SAGA's Camping Trips are open to non members and guests. It is a great way to meet some of our members and enjoy a weekend in the out of doors with other Gay Men.
We don’t have any products to show here right now.
SAGA’s Spring/Summer Campout to Horse Heaven at Mt. Laguna is open for signups.
Signups for SAGA’s Spring/Summer Campout, July 23 - 26 at the Horse Heaven Group Campground in the Mt. Laguna area of San Diego County are now open. The deadline for signing up is July 7, 2026, or until the trip is full. The trip is a joint venture with LA and San Diego, so it promises to be festive as usual. This is SAGA's fourth three-night campout, Thursday to Sunday, or optionally two nights Friday to Sunday.
About the trip. Horse Heaven is located near Mt. Laguna, in the Cleveland National Forest, about 45 miles east of San Diego. It is located south of Julian, and east of Cuyamaca State Park at an elevation of about 5,500 feet in the mountains that separate the coastal region from the eastern deserts. The group campsite is roomy with plenty of nearby parking.
As you know, SAGA rents group campsites to provide room and privacy, and collects a fee to cover the costs of the campsite, supplies, food and beverages. These funds are then used to reimburse those that purchase supplies for the trip. The cost for the three night weekend is $145 per person, and two night option is $115 per person, which includes most meals and beverages.
One way we keep the cost low is by all pitching in and helping with the different tasks in planning and preparing meals and cleaning up after. SAGA campouts organize group meals, and each attendee will be assigned to help with a meal, help cook or another task. If you are a cook and can organize a meal, please volunteer to cook or help cook. We will assign a task to each person, as often as possible one that you volunteer to do on the signup form.
You do not have to be a member of SAGA LA or SAGA San Diego but you must sign the waiver on the signup form to participate. Driving directions to the camp and a list of campers and their assignments will be e-mailed to all participants just prior to the trip.
Additional details of the trip are on the linked flyer below. You can signup by completing the signup form which is also on the flyer (on the second page) and sending payment (payable to SAGA) to Ken Slater at 4305 California Ave, Long Beach CA 90807-2415. Be sure to indicate your selection of two nights or three nights. Don't expect your check to clear until about one week before the campout, but I will email campers when I receive your signup so you know I received it. If you are unable to pay by check or money order, contact me.
We hope you can join us on our 95th campout over the past 45 years! If you have any questions, please let me know.
